Introduction

 

 

The Applied Math WASL Preparation Course uses the CORD Applied Math curriculum to prepare/remediate students to take/retake the WASL.  The units covered are ones, which have been identified as ones pertaining to those areas recently (2004-2005) covered in the 10th grade Math WASL.

 

By using the outline provided the instructor can take the student through the necessary material.  Additionally, specific units can be identified to cover remediation in specific areas of study.  This booklet contains an outline of the objectives for each of the Applied Math units and the specific area of the GLEÕs, which are covered by that unit.  To make maximum use of this material the instructor teaching the course should be familiar with the applied methodology.  The course, as it is outlined, is meant to be taught to sophomores who will be taking the test in the spring.  The material can be covered in approximately 115 days allowing an average of 5 days per unit.  Some of the material has been omitted from the Prep course.  However, if this program is to be taught over a two year period then all of the materials in the units should be covered.  After the WASL is completed then the instructor can go back and pick up those units which have been omitted.
